Travel Itinerary
Departure to Kathmandu
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative at the airport. Enjoy a traditional welcome and transfer to Dhulikhel, a traditional trade transit between Nepal and Tibet. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, you will drive through beautiful villages, rice fields, and rhododendron forests towards the Everest region. The drive along the streams and the Sunkoshi River flowing from Tibet, with magnificent mountain views, is very exciting. Lunch at a teahouse by the river. Continue to Dhap Bazaar. The landscape through rhododendron forests, numerous green hills, beautiful settlements, and endless views of terraces and the Himalayan range is unparalleled. Dinner & overnight stay in a lodge.
Today is the first day of your trek. After breakfast, you will hand over your luggage to our Sherpa helper and hike through the magnificent landscape, enjoying panoramic views of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, and its neighboring snow-capped peaks. This area is famous for its extraordinary viewpoints of the mountains in the north of the country. Along the way, you will encounter gompas, stupas, and small Sherpa monasteries. Overnight stay in a lodge in Jhapre.
We wake up early in the morning to see the first golden rays of sunlight falling on the silver streaks of the snow-capped mountains. Enjoy the views, then continue your trek through dense forests before beginning the ascent to Bhulbule. From here, the path becomes steep, climbing through rhododendron forests and small settlements of Lhamuje. The path behind Lhamuje leads to a pasture where we can see grazing yaks. We cross a long mani wall and ascend along the winding path to Pikey Base Camp. We visit the yak cheese factory and enjoy the stunning views of the majestic mountains surrounding the valley. Overnight stay in a lodge at Pikey Base Camp.
The day begins with an early morning hike along the steep rocky ridge to Pikey Peak (4065 m). We can enjoy breathtaking sunrise views over the mountains, including Mt. Everest (8848 m), Kanchenjunga (8586 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Makalu (8481 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), and Manaslu (8156 m). While capturing the beautiful views with our cameras, we descend to Junbesi and then to Lamjura. Along the way, we cross many mani walls and chortens before reaching Junbesi. We visit an ancient monastery in this village and enjoy the beautiful views of Numbur Himal to the north. Overnight stay in a lodge in Junbesi.
Today is our exploration day around the village. We hike up to Thuptenchholing Gompa, founded in the 19th century. The path leads uphill along the Junbesi Khola to the gompa. The gompa offers deep insights into the culture and religious heritage of the region. After spending some time here, we return to Junbesi. Overnight stay in a lodge in Junbesi.
Junbesi is probably the most beautiful Sherpa village in the Khumbu region. After the successful ascent of Mount Everest, Sir Edmund Hillary established over 26 schools and hospitals for Sherpa families and their children in the Khumbu area. Today, you have a rest day in Junbesi. It’s worth exploring this beautiful village on your own. Overnight stay in a lodge in Junbesi.
Distance: 11 km. Today, we follow a gently descending path along the Junbesi Khola until we reach a steel suspension bridge. After crossing the bridge, we arrive at Beni Ghat. We will continue our hike along a route filled with scenic delights before reaching Phaplu. As we say goodbye to the Rolwaling region, we can explore the area. Overnight stay in a lodge in Phaplu.
After breakfast, you will drive down to Mulkot for 6 hours, where you will spend the night in a comfortable hotel with a swimming pool by the river. It is at a lower elevation and is a pleasant overnight option after trekking. Mulkot is a small, bustling market where locals can buy their daily necessities. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Namobuddha, where a famous Buddhist monastery offers a great view of the mountain range and the wide Panchkhal Valley. Over 200 Tibetan monks live permanently in this monastery, and we can observe puja ceremonies attended by monks. Continue to Kathmandu. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
The palace complexes of Durbar Square in Kathmandu are considered the most important Hindu shrine in the country. We will have the whole day to explore the numerous pagodas and temples. In the evening, we will visit the great Buddhist stupa in Bodnath, known as Little Tibet of Nepal. Bodnath is especially impressive in the evening with lights, numerous prayer wheels, monks, and prayer flags. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
Take time for yourself in this historic city full of ancient traditions and culture. Kathmandu’s old town is a center for souvenirs and local Newari dishes. You have the last opportunity to buy small souvenirs and enjoy every corner with novelties. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner together at a folklore restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.
