Itinerary
Anreise und Kathmandu.
In the morning, you will visit the Boudhanath Stupa, also known as “Little Tibet” of Nepal – the most important Buddhist monument. Located on the outskirts of Kathmandu, the constant clatter of prayer wheels and the meditative sounds make it clear – you are in a different world. In the afternoon, you will visit the Swayambhunath Stupa, the oldest and most significant Buddhist shrine, known for the all-seeing eyes of Buddha.
Today, you will drive to Nagarkot – a famous viewpoint for sunrise and sunset. It offers the most fascinating view of the Himalayan peaks surrounding the Kathmandu Valley. In clear weather, you can see the entire Himalayan range from Dhaulagiri (8,167m) in the west to Mount Everest (8,848m) and Kanchenjunga (8,585m) in the east. Overnight stay in Nagarkot.
Enjoy the sunrise and the breathtaking view of the Himalayas. After breakfast, you will drive to Telkot and take a two-hour hike through the beautiful landscape to the Changu Narayan hill, home to the oldest temple in the Kathmandu Valley. Afterwards, you will travel to Dhulikhel, near the Tibetan border. Dhulikhel is located on the Friendship Highway, which connects Kathmandu to Tibet, and offers a stunning view of the surrounding mountain landscape. Overnight stay in Dhulikhel.
After breakfast, you will drive to Kalanki and then to a beautiful monastery, home to 150 monks. The monastery provides a spectacular view of the Kathmandu Valley and the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to observe a monastery ceremony and learn about the monastery’s history and the monks’ daily life. In the evening, you will share dinner with the monks. Overnight stay at the monastery.
Following the morning ceremony at the monastery, you will have breakfast with the monks. After breakfast, you will drive approximately five hours to Kurintar, where you will stay in a hotel by the Trisuli River. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Optionally, you can visit the popular Manakamana Temple (bookable and payable on-site).
Explore Lumbini, one of the most important Buddhist sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on a rickshaw tour. According to legend, this is where Siddhartha Gautama, the future Buddha, was born. You will visit the Mayadevi Temple, which houses the ruins of ancient Buddhist temples and the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, as well as other significant sites such as the Ashoka Pillar from 249 BCE. Overnight stay in Lumbini.
After breakfast, you will travel to the Royal Chitwan National Park in the Terai region – the lowland jungle area on the border with India. In the afternoon, you can visit Asia’s largest elephant breeding center, participate in elephant training, and enjoy an elephant bath. Two overnight stays near the Chitwan National Park.
Early in the morning, before breakfast, you will embark on a jungle excursion to observe over 400 bird species. After breakfast, you will take a canoe ride on the Rapti River, where you can see beautiful water birds and even crocodiles.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will drive to Pokhara. Your hotel is located in a picturesque setting by Phewa Lake. In the afternoon, you will take a boat ride on Phewa Lake, the second-largest lake in Nepal, with stunning views of the Himalayan mountains. Surrounded by mountains and rice fields, you will glide across the water and pass by a Hindu temple located on a small island in the middle of the lake. Two overnight stays in Pokhara.
Today, you will wake up at 5:30 AM and drive to Sarangkot to enjoy the sunrise over the mountains. Sarangkot offers a fantastic panoramic view of Phewa Lake and the Himalayan range, including Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m), and Manaslu (8,156m). After breakfast, you will visit Devi’s Falls and capture beautiful photos. You will also visit a Tibetan settlement from the 1960s and a Hindu wedding temple. The afternoon is at your leisure.
After breakfast, you will travel back to Kathmandu along the Seti, Marsyangdi, and Trisuli Rivers. The Trisuli River originates from Tibet and will accompany you along the way. Two overnight stays in Kathmandu.
The day is at your leisure. You can spend time shopping in the city center of Kathmandu.
Transfer to the airport, return flight, and arrival in Germany.
